Lankan expats invest Rs. 320m in treasury bonds

Rs. 320 million worth of foreign monetary assets have been received
as a result of investments made in treasury bills by Sri Lankan
expatriates. In response to the letter issued on January 1 by President
Mahinda Rajapaksa, 202 Sri Lankans living abroad and expatriate workers
have invested in treasury bills and treasury assets, State Revenue and
Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya told Parliament yesterday.
The Minister further said the country has received Rs. 120 million
worth of foreign monetary assets as a result of the investments made in
treasury bonds. The Minister was responding to a question raised by UNP
MP Lakshman Kiriella. |
