Sports Medicine Course for doctors
The Medical Committee of National Olympic Committee with the
collaboration of the Department of Sports Development, Ministry of
Sports will conduct a sports medicine course for doctors on September 26
at the NOC Auditorium, Olympic House.
This is the first certified course to be conducted by the NOC and
will consist of six hours of instruction, and would carry CME credits
for doctors who wish to follow other formal Sports Medicine courses in
Sri Lanka. The aim of the course is to emphasize the Principles of
Sports Medicine needed for aspiring doctors, to serve the medical needs
of athletes in schools, clubs, sports federations and National pools.
The Lecturers at the course will be doctors from the NOC Medical
Committee and Consultants of the NOC Medical Expert Advisory Panel, and
include well recognized university lecturers in sports medicine, namely
Professor Rohan Jayasekara, Dr. Lalith Wijayaratne, Dr. Narendra Pinto,
Dr. C.Thurairaja, Dr. H. J. Suraweera, Dr. Aranjan Karunanayake, Dr.
Asela Ratnayake and Dr. Seevali Jayawickrame.
Registration forms are available at the Olympic House, NOC, Colombo
and the fee is Rs. 750.
Dr. C. Thurairaja is the chairman NOC Medical Committee who will be
assisted by Dr. Shiromi Pilapitiya of the Ministry of Sports.
