Pension defrauding attempt busted

Police busted a fake kachcheri yesterday in Nawalapitiya and arrested
a suspect who was turning out forged death certificates of persons for
the purpose of claiming their pension. Police seized the equipment used
for the fraud.
Police spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwake said a special team from
Nawalapitiya police conducted the raid and arrested the suspect who was
making the forged death certificates.
“Police also seized 14 seals, 117 bank passbooks and other equipment
from the suspect’s possession,” he added.
