Top UN official here

A top UN political official is to arrive in Colombo today to visit North and discuss about IDPs and other related issues with the Government, the Foreign Ministry said yesterday.

Head of UN political Affairs Department Lynn Pascoe was invited to Sri Lanka by President Mahinda Rajapaksa following a telephone discussion between the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon and the President on Monday.

His visit will be a follow up on the Secretary-General's visit to Sri Lanka soon after the military defeat of the LTTE in May.
