Strategizing for and marketing a country

'Strategizing for and marketing a country' is a program organized by The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka Region, under the CIM Talking Point Series, scheduled to be held on September 17 at Galadari Hotel. The program will be conducted by Hilmy Cader.

The Institute expects to reiterate the importance of the role played by marketeers at a national level and their contribution towards the economic development of the country, through this program which is the last CIM Talking Point program for the year.

Hilmy Cader said, "Countries are increasingly competing in a world with lower trade barriers and greater competition; with customers/investors who are smarter and more demanding.

Global boundaries are also becoming blurred and global media has exploded, disseminating information faster, and to a wider cross-section of individuals.

The contemporary approach to Country Marketing is one that asks the question: "What does the world need?" and then answers the question, to its own advantage, by identifying a state's competencies and creating a strategic fit."

Cader is a Chartered Marketeer and a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. He had his Executive Education at Harvard Business School; and holds an MBA and EDBA from the University of Colombo. Presently, he is the Bahrain-based Chief Executive of MTI Constituting and has been instrumental in driving MTI Consulting to be one of the fastest growing international strategy consultancies.

Over the last 12 years, MTI has won many prestigious projects, awards, commendations and international media coverage having carried out assignments for clients in 33 countries in five continents.
