ICASL 30th National Conference

The 30th National Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) had an impact on the business community in our country and has so far attracted nearly 1,000 participants. This year's National Conference will be held on September 17 at 6.00 pm at the Waters' Edge.

The Chief Guest will be the High Commissioner of Australia for Sri Lanka Mrs. Kathy Klugman and the Guest of Honour will be Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Amitha Gooneratne who will deliver the keynote speech.

This year's theme is titled "Leading a New Beginning".

There would be four sessions held on September 18 by CEO of Dialog Telekom PLC Sri Lanka, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, who will lead the first session on 'Leaders and Market Makers'; CEO of American Links International, B.P. Sharma will deliberate on 'Agile Organizations'.

Devanesan Evanson at FCCA and the Chief Market Operations Officer of Bursa Malaysia, will conduct the third session on 'Making Corporate Boards More Accountable'; The fourth session will be conducted by Managing Director of PIETA Consulting Dr. Jeffrey Lim on 'Cash Alert'.

The fifth session will be conducted by ASEAN Practice leader of Advisory Services of Ernst and Young Robert Cullen and we will speak the forum on 'Common Cents'.

The sixth and final session will focus on 'Survive and Thrive', which would be a panel discussion on how businesses can prosper and become magnificent even during difficult times.

ICASL president Nishan Fernando said, "this is a much awaited event of the corporate sector, and as anticipated by many would deliver wonders for our business community'.

The burden of organizing this event was on the shoulders of the National Conference Committee and its Chairman Sujeewa Rajapakse.
