Rowing Nationals from Sept 9

The 25th Sri Lanka National Rowing Championships organized by the Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka will be held from September 9 to 12. This year, for the first time in the history of the Nationals, the races will be rowed over a 2000 metre course, at the Bolgoda Lake. This is a first step towards taking rowing in Sri Lanka to the next level where national and international level rowing will be encouraged and propagated.

This year's Nationals will feature four main categories - Under-16, Under-19, Over 19 and open in which oarsmen and oarswomen from all rowing institutions will participate. Mobitel will be giving their support towards rowing this year as well and will be the main sponsor of this year's events.


Race walking seminar

The Athletic Association of Sri Lanka has made arrangements to conduct a Seminar, a workshop and a training camp for sportsmen and women, coaches and technical officers involved in race walking from September 16-25 in Colombo. Khoo Chong Beng, Asian highly qualified coach on race walking is due to conduct these event for the benefit of the event which needs lot of development in Sri Lanka.

The AASL requests all interested parties to send in their entries to G.L.S. Perera, AASL Headquarters, No. 33, Torrington Avenue, Colombo 7.

Joes soccer carnival

The Football Advisory Committee of St. Joseph's College, Colombo 10 is to organize a 'Soccer Carnival,' 8, November 2009 at the College ground.

Past captains and players who have represented Sri Lanka in the field of soccer will be felicitated on this day.
