SEC opens Dolomite plant

The recently modernized Matale Dolomite Manufacturing Plant managed by the State Engineering Corporation (SEC) will be opened by Construction and Engineering Services Minister Rajitha Senaratne on Sept.07 at 11.00 am. Urban Development Minister Rohana Dissanayake will also participate in the event.

The plant will manufacture high quality dolomite and sell them to farmers at a concessionary rate with the intention of giving support to the Api Wawamu Rata Nagamu grow more food drive stipulated in the Mahinda Chinthana.

The plant also intends to produce high quality lime and hydrated lime as a construction raw material. It will be marketed in a 20 kg pack to customers. According to the sources of SEC, the annual country requirement for dolomite is over 80,000 metric tons. Expected monthly production of dolomite through the plant is about 700 metric tons. SEC hopes to double this capacity in the future.
