IGP visits South

Inspector General of Police Jayantha Wickremaratne visited the Southern Province to educate police personnel in the range on measures to maintain law and order in the run up to the Southern Provincial Council elections.

Southern Range Senior DIG Kingsley Ekanayake, Intelligence Division DIG Keerthi Gajanayake and Elections DIG Gamini Navaratne were associated with the IGP during the tour. The IGP addressing 52 Officers-in-Charge in the area and eight Senior SPs emphasised that they must educate their staff about the existing election and traffic laws which should be applied during the elections.

The Police personnel on election duty should be well versed with their responsibilities, the IGP said.
