Kiwi players hit by a stomach bug

In a rare sporting gesture Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara permitted the visiting New Zealand team to use their reserve wicket keeper after most of their team members were hit by a stomach bug on the eve of the fourth day’s play of the first cricket Test match at the Galle International Stadium yesterday.

New Zealand team manager David Currie said that regular wicket keeper Brendon McCullum and reserve wicket keeper Jesse Ryder have been the worst hit and decided to stay back in their team hotel.

“Sri Lanka team has very kindly agreed to let substitute Reece Young to keep wickets today as we have lost both out wicket keepers. We are very thankful to them” said Currie. Galle, Friday
