It is with a sense of pride and respect to all our comrades who sacrificed their precious young lives for the sovereignty of the Motherland, we celebrate the 21st anniversary of intake VI of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy.

The advent of the Intake VI took place on October 10, 1988 with the formation of the biggest intake in the history of the Kotelawala Defence Academy.

After the first year of hard and vigorous academic and military training we were temporarily separated and sent to respective military academies in furtherance of military know-how.

The waves of sadness still reverberate in our minds, even today. You dear soldiers and brother officers laid your lives in the uphill task of protecting the nation which is incomparable. All fond memories that you have left with us are always cherished and unforgettable, it is an irreparable loss to the nation, Armed Forces' families and particularly to Intake VI KDA.

We organized a ceremony to pay respect to our dear batch mates of the KDA 6 who sacrificed their lives in the war at Gangarama Temple on 11th at 6.00 p.m. The alms giving and Bodhi Pooja has been conducted to invoke merits of them. Finally, on behalf of the Intake VI KDA and grieved family members, we wish our brother officers - May you attain the Supreme Bliss of Nirvana.

Meanwhile the batchmates will meet today (August 22) at Galle Face Hotel at 5.30.pm.
