Minister Bandula Gunawardene said in Parliament yesterday that the
Government has established a new Dedicated Economic Centre (DEC) at a
cost of Rs. 88 million in the building at the old food store premises at
Ratmalana.
The Minister said that the old food store premises in Ratmalana was
not used for long time.
Therefore, we have decided to use this building for a fruitful
purpose. The Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) is handling
the construction work of the DEC.
The Minister was responding to an oral question raised by JVP MP
Lakshman Nipunarachchi. He said that CECB has called tenders in a
transparent manner to sell the damaged sheets of the roof and the iron
removed from the old building. "We earned an income of Rs. 254,250 and
Rs. 156,840 respectively from the iron and sheets," he said. |
