ASPI gains

Stocks at the CSE ended yesterday flat but interest was seen in selected blue chip companies.

The ASPI gained 2 points (+0.1 percent) to close at 2,524 while the more liquid MPI gained 3 points (+0.1 percent) to close at 2,844. Gains were led by Ceylon Tobacco, which gained Rs 4.00 to close at Rs 155.00, John Keells Holdings, up 75 cents to close at Rs 134.25, and Sri Lanka Telecom which gained 25 cents to close at Rs 42.75.

John Keells Holdings accounted for Rs 121 million of the day's total turnover of Rs 334 million.

Environmental Resources warrants commenced trading yesterday with the 2010 warrant ending the day at Rs 13.50 down 50 cents from the indexed price of Rs 14.00 and 2011 warrant closing at Rs 12.25, up 25 cents from the indexed price of Rs 12.00.
