Attorney granted bail

The Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Gihan
Pilapitiya granted bail to Attorney-at-Law A. D. Jegasothi, the 10th
suspect in the Ceylinco Sri Ram Company alleged misappropriation case.
The Company is alleged to have misappropriated the depositors funds
running into several millions.
The Judge directed the suspect Jegasothi to furnish cash bail in
Rs.150,000 and two bonds of Rs.10 million each with two sureties. One
surety should be a Government Servant. The Judge directed the suspect
Jegasothi to appear before the CID every last Saturday between 9 a.m.
and 12 noon. The Judge granting bail observed that court considered the
medical certificates submitted by the Senior Defence Counsel Nalin
Ladduwahetty in connection with suspect's health condition. State
Counsel Shaminda Wickremage said that he is not objecting to the suspect
being granted bail considering his health condition.
Senior Defence Counsel Nalin Ladduwahetty with Shiraz Noordeen
appeared for suspect Jegasothi. Granting bail for the suspect the Judge
directed him to appear in court on August 24. |
