Futuro III course ends on a high note

It was way back in 1993 Sri Lanka Football experienced the Futuro with four principals in administration, coaching, referring and medicine. On August 05, 2009, the official opening ceremony was held where 26 Local football administrators from all parts of the island participating in Futuro III Administration and Management course.

Football as a sport and as an entertainment is very challenging in the fast moving world where Marketing, Communications and Administration too are playing a major role in addition to technical development and advancement of the game.

Football is a tool which is used to address post conflict mental distress and trauma reconciliation and it will be very useful to have the regional leagues and clubs to practice better governance through best management. So it is very timely for FIFA to conduct the newly developed FUTURO III Administration and Management Course in Sri Lanka where we could apply all these elements of management such as human resources, finance planning, event management, competitions and club management etc. to meet the ever changing demands of the game.

Member of Parliament Laksman Wijemanna was the guest at the opening ceremony along with The President FFSL Hurley Silveira together with Head of Education and Technical Development of FIFA Juerg Nepfer and Course Instructors from FIFA Peter Fousek and Imitiaz Rehman.

Juerg Nepfer elaborating on the course content and highlighted the elements of the FUTURO III Administration and Management National course.

He further said the assigned Regional Instructors will share their experiences and management skills which are very similar in standards for application in Sri Lanka. He invited participants to be active and interactive during the programme to make it more fruitful and to gain maximum benefits from the programe.

The guest of honour MP Lakshman Wijemanna thanked FIFA for coming forward to support in developing the much needed management and Administration practices for Regional Football Administrators and requested all participants who are gathered from North, South, West and East to practice what is leant here for the development of the game which will contribute for the enhancement of the living standards of Sri Lankan sportsmen and women.
