More UNPers to crossover

Eighteen United National Party middle level leaders will join the Government party during the forthcoming Southern Provincial Council Election, Media Minister Laksman Yapa Abeywardana said.

”These UNPers will join the Government from time to time in due course. They have expressed their support to the Government after realising the weaknesses of the UNP leadership”, the Minister Abeywardana said yesterday at a press conference. The UNP Opposition Leader of the Kamburupitiya Pradeshiya Sabha, Premawansa Warnakula expressed his support to the Government at the press briefing.

”The UNP leadership is not capable enough to bring the party forward. It is clearly evident in every election result. The UNP leadership hasn’t any vision and mission which can carry the party forward. Moreover the leadership has failed to identify the people’s hopes and aspirations.

The policies of the UNP do not meet with the needs of its membership”, Warnakula said.
