To promote road safety:
CEAT goes to schools
LRoad safety around schools is the focus of a new corporate social
responsibility program launched last week by CEAT Sri Lanka, a pneumatic
tyre manufacturer.
The Company's Managing Director Randeep Narang said the India-Sri
Lanka joint venture had taken a firm policy decision to focus on CSR as
an integrated corporate management function.
He said primary education and road safety are two key areas in which
CEAT hopes to make meaningful contributions to the community in Sri
Lanka. "Safety on the road often depends on good tyres, and as a leading
tyre manufacturer, we are committed to enriching the many thousands of
lives that ride on CEAT every day," Narang said.
The schools program that involves the presentation of traffic signs,
traffic cones and other equipment to schools in Colombo and suburbs was
inaugurated at Holy Family Convent, Colombo. The school was provided 11
signboards and 25 cones for use at its Marine Drive entrance, where
scores of school vans and cars drop and pick up children every day.
"Our product is closely linked with motoring and safety. It is
therefore logical that we play a meaningful role in promoting
discipline, order and safety among motorists and pedestrians," said,
General Manager - Sales and Marketing of CEAT Sri Lanka. Ravi Dadlani.
He said the Road Safety Project will be one of the key elements in 'CEAT
Cares,' the company's CSR program. It would help achieve two goals, the
safety of children and educating students and their parents on the
importance of obeying traffic signs. |
