Multi-Tower Havelock City project:

SLT in landmark agreement

Sri Lanka Telecom, (SLT) has entered into a landmark agreement with the Havelock City project, which is the flagship multi-tower residential and commercial real estate development project undertaken in Sri Lanka.

The agreement was signed by Chairperson of Sri Lanka Telecom Mrs Leisha De Silva Chandrasena, and Director of Mireka Capital Land (Pvt) Ltd. H Z Cassim.

The agreement signifies SLT's commitment to connect the Havelock City with the latest fibre optic connections extending SLT broadband network to all residents catering to their communication requirements.

This new commitment would provide infrastructure facilities to provide triple play services such as voice, data, and video and also ensure mobile connectivity within the premises through its fully owned subsidiary Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd.

The Havelock City apartment owners will enjoy a 'digital' lifestyle offered via the cream of today's broadband technology.

The Havelock City, along Havelock Road is the largest residential-cum-commercial project to be undertaken in Sri Lanka to provide potential residents a true "City within a City" concept.

Developed by Mireka Capital Land (Pvt) Ltd, a joint venture between Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC and the Bank of Ceylon, this development would comprise high quality residential apartments and a commercial complex with a shopping mall, food and beverage facilities, retail shops, a supermarket and a business hotel among other facilities. Its unique feature is the seven-acre landscaped roof garden, the first of its kind in Sri Lanka. Sixty percent of the apartments have been sold out in the first phase and the Park tower and Elibank tower are expected to be completed shortly. The value added features introduced by SLT to the Havelock City would make it a state-of-the-art development project where the latest communication and entertainment facilities are readily made available to its residents.

Managing Director of Mireka Capital Land, Ralph De Lanerolle said "the development at the Havelock City will provide residents with the state-of- the-art communication and entertainment facilities. Havelock City will be one of the few development projects in Colombo to be equipped with the latest technology providing enhanced communication infrastructure and facilities which are on par with global standards. I'am confident that with SLT's support, we can offer guaranteed services to our apartment owners with a basket of value added features".

Chairperson of SLT, Mrs. Leisha De Silva Chandrasena said, "We are happy to be the preferred communication service provider for this flagship project. We have provided fibre connectivity with network resiliencies to the Havelock City covering the two towers in the first phase of the project".

"The extension of the broadband network to the Havelock City premises empowers SLT to deliver reliable voice services, high speed internet services, IPTV services or any other IP services to apartment owners." Mrs. Chandrasena said.

To promote road safety:

CEAT goes to schools

LRoad safety around schools is the focus of a new corporate social responsibility program launched last week by CEAT Sri Lanka, a pneumatic tyre manufacturer.

The Company's Managing Director Randeep Narang said the India-Sri Lanka joint venture had taken a firm policy decision to focus on CSR as an integrated corporate management function.

He said primary education and road safety are two key areas in which CEAT hopes to make meaningful contributions to the community in Sri Lanka. "Safety on the road often depends on good tyres, and as a leading tyre manufacturer, we are committed to enriching the many thousands of lives that ride on CEAT every day," Narang said.

The schools program that involves the presentation of traffic signs, traffic cones and other equipment to schools in Colombo and suburbs was inaugurated at Holy Family Convent, Colombo. The school was provided 11 signboards and 25 cones for use at its Marine Drive entrance, where scores of school vans and cars drop and pick up children every day.

"Our product is closely linked with motoring and safety. It is therefore logical that we play a meaningful role in promoting discipline, order and safety among motorists and pedestrians," said, General Manager - Sales and Marketing of CEAT Sri Lanka. Ravi Dadlani.

He said the Road Safety Project will be one of the key elements in 'CEAT Cares,' the company's CSR program. It would help achieve two goals, the safety of children and educating students and their parents on the importance of obeying traffic signs.
