Poetry
Water
Water giveth life to mankind, bird, plant and beast,
Precious art thou; without which we shall all perish.
Trekking long distances, I need you water to quench my thirst,
For my ablutions as well and to resuscitate myself.
Some folks adventure long distances to fetch you, water
Whilst some waste you unsparingly,
Man is vain and has no realization.
God?s gift of this wonderous liquid is no second to any beverage.

Bank of Ceylon at 70
It fills my heart with great pleasure
To hear BoC, my former employer,
Has served the nation for years seventy,
And stands spread all over the country.
To farmers who plough and sow in the fields,
The workers who work hard on hot roads,
And the fishermen who go to sea for food,
BoC grants them loans that they need
It grants advances to enhance exports,
Assists to remit foreign exchange for imports,
Collects and protects people?s earnings overseas,
And all these done by BoC for seventy years.
One worries as his income is spent
On food, clothes and the house rent
BoC helps these cheerless ones
To purchase houses, granting housing loans
Served with pride for years seventy
It?s our Bank with lasting beauty
Known to all, that?s ?Bankers to the Nation?
Long live Bank of Ceylon with promotion

To you my mother
When I turn to view my past
I see how my mother had brought me up;
My entire life I owe till last
To you mother with love and hope.
Serving the seven of us was your prime concern
And you sacrificed all your precious time
With your sweet smile you hearken
Understanding and giving was your prime.
Naughty child in the family that is me,
Was your great pet, your eldest son.
All what I am now I owe to thee
To you, mother as proud a man.
When I took ill with fever severe
Everyone lost hope, but you alone
With your prayers attended me ever;
Delighted, when I came along.
I miss you both father and mum
You are not here to see my triumph
In all my thoughts your memory come
All you strived to make my prime.

Reverie
Am I really reading this book?
Words inch by, walk down, run off
and circle around smooth enough.
I can?t get what they try to tell me.
They fill my mind and heart
with thoughts
crazy, lovely, crappy, lousy and stupid.
Am I getting insane,
or what?

The poet
A rare unusual perception
From which he explores
The regions of unseen
Layers of common faculties
And brings forth
Vivid and realistic perspectives
That please and disillusion
The soul and mind
Of the weary traveller
In this world of uncertainity!
In the name of child
Tender age of teenage life
Bears the hearts quite fragile and light.
Love is there, so handle them with care.
Keep them warm with Tender Love and Care.
Broken hearts.....They are everywhere.
Hands that heal are the ones that are rare.
Be among the ones who heal,
whom they need but rare.
Tender age of teenage life!
In merciless hands..... They would perish.
Be among the ones who care.

Salutation
A thrice blessed welcome!
Guardian Shepherd of the flock
To our pasture land
Your benign care and pastoral guidance
We anticipate
As our joyful, prayerful, greetings resonate
Blessings we pray on you will shower
Showers of blessings rich and rare
As you enfold the flock in your loving care
The yoke of enormous responsibility you have borne
Your tireless search for truth and justice shown
Gods love and grace surround you in this apostolic role
As you take up the Shepherd?s staff
His mission, your goal
Your missionary zeal commitment to human cause
Your scholastic achievements an added force to all
Revered shepherd the humble wishes of your fold
Long may you serve in the pasture land of the Lord.
