Economic aid for over 60,000 Bolivians
Bolivia: The Bolivian government will deliver an economic help to
over 60,000 pregnant women that includes their sons-to be until two
years old, confirmed the Health and Sports Ministry According to the
Minister Ramiro Tapia the Juana Azurduy bond is aimed at reducing
mother-children mortality rate.
Tapia stressed that at this moment 53 children die of everyone born
alive in the Andean nation and over 234 women for every 10,000 children
born alive which figure he considered alarming.
He highlighted that this monetary assistance to mothers is allocated
since last June to those that systematically attend the doctor and
pre-natal controls.
The authority ratified that two financial entities will take
responsibilities for the payment, the Union Bank and Prodem and in rural
areas will be done with the Armed Forces support.
The payment will be made by installments of 50 Bolivians (over 7
dollars) until the baby birth.
This benefit payment will finally reach 1,820 Bolivians (about 260
dollars).
Tapia emphasized the economic resources for this policy are provided
by the Nation's general Treasure (TGN) and the World Bank with 25
