Over four thousand players from 336 teams will be vying for honours at the 18th Milo schools all island netball championships which will be worked off from August 9 to 11 at the Public grounds in Anuradhapura.

This tournament is conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Limited for the 18th successive year.

The preliminary round matches were completed in 14 centres with the participation of more than 10,000 competitors from 947 teams. The events that will be worked off are the under 12, 14, 16 and 18. The opening ceremony will take place on August 9 at 9.00 a.m under the patronage of the Chief Minister North Central Province Berty Premalal Dissanayake.

This year's tournament will be conducted in two segments with the top teams competing in the 'A' division and the rest of the teams participating in the 'B' division.

Holy Family Balika MV Kurunegala will be hoping for a repeat performance of last year where they carried away three titles the under 12, 14 and 16 tournaments respectively.

They will receive stiff opposition from Ave Maria Balika MV Negombo, Girls High School Kandy, Musaeus College, Vishaka College, Kalutara Balika MV and Maliyadeva Balika MV, Kurunegala.

Residential facilities for all competitors will be provided at Swarnapali Balika Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura Central College, Niwaththakachethiya MV and Zahira College Anuradhapura.
