Gen. Palitha leads team for Congress

The IAAF will hold its 47th annual Delegates Congress on August 9 and
10 in Berlin before the commencement of the IAAF junior athletic
championship to be held at the same city.
General Palitha Fernando, President of the Sri Lanka Athletic
Association, Prema Pinnawala (Secretary, SLAA) and G. L. S. Perera SLAA
official will leave the island to attend the Congress.
The congress will meet to discuss regarding the present rules and
regulations and also will take steps to amend those where it is
necessary. They will also hope to look into various aspects with regard
to anti doping issues that has become a menace to the sporting arena.
The Congress will analyse the reports submitted by the governing
bodies of the affiliated countries for further grants and various other
issues that has arisen during the past.
According to G. L. S. Perera the media co-ordinator the two athletes
who are to compete at this meet in Berlin has already left for Germany
to further undergo training in Bremen. The two athletes Shehan
Ambepitiya (100, 200 m) and Chandrika Subashini (400 m) are accompanied
by their coach Sunil Gunewardene.
These two received entry for the meet through wild card entries, said
Perera.
