Army Roshan shot dead

Two key underworld figures were shot dead by police in self defence
on Tuesday night and yesterday morning in Madiwela and Ratmalana.
Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said a most wanted criminal
Keerthi Kumara alias Army Roshan (36) was arrested by a special unit
from the Mirihana police on Tuesday around 10.30 pm in Madiwela .
“Army Roshan was arrested when he was driving his car Toyota Corolla
bearing number 64-7836. We recovered two T56 rifles, 59 ammunition, a
9mm micro pistol and a hand grenade from inside his car”, he added.
SSP Gunasekera said Army Roshan was wanted for many crimes. “He
committed many crimes including extorting of millions of rupees and
murder”, he added.
Two Police Constables were injured when he lobbed a hand grenade at a
team from the Mirihana police escorting Army Roshan to recover his other
weapons. He was shot dead by police in self defence.
Two PC’s were admitted to the Kalubowila hospital with serious
injuries.
Meanwhile, Mt. Lavinia police shot and killed another key underworld
gangster in Thelevana, Ratmalana during the wee hours of yesterday.
Mt. Lavinia police HQI CI Mahesh Perera said M. Rilwan (32) alias
Pappa, an underworld gangster was arrested last week in connection for a
number of alleged murders, extortions, arms smuggling and many crimes.
