Soon the Government will take the initiatives to build an industrial
zone in the Uva, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing a UPFA
election rally in Buttala. He also said that new business ventures will
then definitely assist the development of this area. “For that process
the Uva has to be lead by a good leadership with good governance,” the
President added.

The aim of the Government is to achieve an overall development
throughout the country. It may be Moneragala, Badulla, North–East or any
part of the country. The country will be lead to the development goal”
the President said..
After defeating LTTE terrorism, the country has to be transformed
into a powerful country in the world, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said
yesterday.
The President saluted the people of the Uva who placed their
confidence in the Mahinda Chinthana. The Government has liberated the
country from the clutches of the LTTE and has built a peaceful country
for all including the future generation.
”Today Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and other nationalities live peacefully
under one flag. We speak proudly about the heroes of Uva-Wellassa as we
followed their footpath during our march to defeat terrorism. King
Parakramabahu believed that a single drop water should not be allowed to
flow to the sea without utilising it for cultivation. During the
Wellassa riots in 1918 all people over 18 years were killed” the
President said.
The people who destroyed the country, who killed people and who
destroyed the agriculture systems don’t like to see the country
developing. Therefore, they place many obstacles. When the country
received the IMF loan certain parties tried to sabotage it.
”Today five harbours are being constructed simultaneously fulfilling
a long felt need of the country. The road network is rapidly being
developed. According to the District Secretory Rs. 40 million has been
allocated for infrastructure development in each Divisional Secretariat
Devision under a well planned development program. Therefore, that is
the very reason for you to join us. Then only we all can lead the
country to prosperity. That vision will come true as a result of the
outcome of this development process” the President noted.
For the overall development of the country the ‘village’ has to be
developed. Difficult or under privileged villages will be transformed
into developed villages. |
