Laksathosa boon for Jaffna

The Government yesterday opened the first new Laksathosa outlet in
Jaffna to provide essential commodities at concessionary rates to
consumers in the North.
Trade, Marketing Development, Co-operatives and Consumer Services
Minister Bandula Gunawardene told the Daily News that there could be
price variations due to various reasons especially due to transport
costs but the high prices would come down with the opening of the new
Laksathosa outlet in Jaffna.
Meanwhile, people in Jaffna expressed their happiness on the
Government move and a large number of consumers have already gathered to
purchase essential commodities in the new Laksathosa outlet, according
to the Minister.
The Minister stressed that the prices would drop in almost all
essential goods in the near future with this initiative.
A new building has been constructed by the Government to set up the
Laksathosa self-service sales outlet. The Minister expressed his
confidence that the people of Jaffna would soon be able to reap the
benefits of this outlet.
