Bahrain PM arrives in Sri Lanka:

Several agreements to be signed

The state visit of Bahrain Prime Minister Sheik Khalifa Bin Salman Al- Khalifa will enhance bilateral trade and economic relationship between the two countries, Foreign Affairs Minister Rohitha Bogollagama said.

"We are now looking forward to enhance the relationship between the two countries with a wide agenda to develop bilateral economic and commercial relations, " Minister Bogollagama said following a courtesy call on Bahrain Prime Minister Al- Khalifa at Colombo Hilton yesterday.

Bahrain Prime Minister Al-Khalifa is on a two day State visit in response to an invitation by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. During his short stay he will meet President Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanyaka today.

He said Bahrain Prime Minister's visit initiated at a time of defeating the LTTE by Sri Lanka, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has shown the world that Sri Lanka is now heading for a rapid economic growth with this achievement, he added.

Bogollagama also said that a sizeable number of Sri Lankans are in Bahrain and are expecting to expand the human resources in the future, which is a also the widest process of enhancing international co-operation between the two countries.

Bahrain is also planning to support rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the North ,where Sri Lanka is now on a major developing drive while healing the wounds of a three decade long war, he said.

Foreign Minister Bogollagama said that they will sign several bilateral agreements to enhance trade and commerce between the two countries to ensure a healthy balance of trade between both countries in the future.
