All favourites through

All favourites won their preliminary round bouts on the opening day of the ABA 67th men's and women's Layton Cup boxing meet which commenced at the Sugathadasa indoor stadium in Colombo yesterday.

This meet is considered as the trials for the World Boxing Championships scheduled to be held in Milan, Italy on October and for the 6th Asian Women's Indoor Games scheduled to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam on November 2009.

The meet will also serve as the 2nd trial meet to select the 20 boxers for the Dhaka South Asian Games Boxing pool. The meet will be continued today with all finals scheduled to be worked off on Thursday.
