Anandian excels in international exhibition

E. Chandula Padmasiri, a student of Ananda College, Colombo has won third place at an Intel International Science and Engineering exhibition held in USA recently. Padmasiri won this award in the Electric and Mechanical Engineering Distinction Stream for his innovation - a Mobile Phone associated Microscope among other competitors from 50 countries.

A ceremony to felicitate this student along with a few other students who excelled at a previous competition organized in collaboration with the National Science Foundation, Sri Lanka Engineering Institute, Intel and the Education Ministry, which led those students to represent Sri Lanka at the exhibition held in USA, was held recently at the Information Ministry.

Professor Tissa Vitarana who was the chief guest at this ceremony said, there are a large number of potential inventors in this country. Marketing opportunities for good inventions in Sri Lanka is less than one in hundred.

Every country has this problem; we need to have a mechanism to solve this problem.
