Ministry to prepare question papers

In the backdrop of ghastly printing mistakes in Mid term test papers
prepared by Provincial educational authorities, Education Minister Susil
Premajayantha yesterday said the Ministry will directly get involved in
the preparation of question papers from the third term test this year.
The Minister said the provincial and zonal education authorities
should print and distribute them among the schools in a proper manner.
The Minister was speaking at the presentation of appointment to 22
Principals who were promoted to the Educatonal Administrative Service
Grade III from Principal Service Grade I. The teachers who received
training in Java technology also received certificates on this occasion.
"The standard education provided by the Government has resulted in
increasing the rate of students who passed the G.C.E. (O\L) examination
from 14.7% in 1993 to 51% in 2008 while the rate of student who passed
the G.C.E. (A\L) examination was upgraded from 21.7% in 1993 to 63% in
2008" ' he said.
The Minister said the teacher cadre was also increased from 187,000
in 1993 to 218,00 in 2008. |
