Estate workers get rest rooms

Under the direction of Plantation Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne,
over 225 restrooms with necessary facilities had been constructed at a
cost of Rs.55 million for the welfare of plantation workers in the
plantation sector during last four years,Ministry sources said. Rest
rooms constructed for the factory workers of Down Side Group and
Welimada Group in the Badulla district were handed over to the
respective plantation communities recently by Minister D.M. Jayaratne.
The cost of each rest room is about Rs. 625,000. Meanwhile, 600 field
rest rooms had also been constructed for the benefit of field workers at
a coat of Rs.26 million.
Minister D.M Jayaratne commenting on the welfare facilities for the
plantation workers said, they should be provided to workers during their
intervals to get maximum service from them. He also said the
establishment of rest rooms for the workers in the plantation sector is
a timely need. |
