NCC fight-back to beat Saracens

Leg spinners Roshan Wijenayake and Roshan Laksiri shared nine wickets between them as NCC after conceding first innings points came back magnificently to beat Saracens SC outright by six wickets in their SLC under 23 division one two day cricket tournament match concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

Saracens SC: 161 and 111 (P. Edirisinghe 40, C. Silva 38, R. Wijenayake 5 for 18, R. Laksiri 4 for 44).

NCC: 160 and 116 for 4 (K. Hettiarachchi 33, R. Mendis 24, D. Chandimal 24, G. Nirushan 2 for 20).

BRC in 32-run win

Off spinner Tasitha Chamara took a matchbag of nine wickets for 105 to spearhead BRC to a rousing 32 run outright victory over Panadura SC in their SLC under 23 division one two day cricket tournament match concluded at Panadura yesterday.

BRC: 268 Panadura SC: 113 (C. Dushan 23, M. Madushanka 7 for 26, T. Chamara 2 for 42) and 123 (C. Dushan 22, T. Chamara 7 for 63).

Superb century by Buddhika

Eighteen year old opening batsman from Mahinda College Galle Romesh Buddhika hammered an unbeaten 164 with seventeen boundaries to guide Ragama CC to an emphatic first innings victory over Moors SC in their SLC under 23 division one two day cricket tournament match concluded at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Moors SC: 275 and 22 for 1.

Ragama CC: 342 for 3 decl (R. Buddhika 164 n.o, L. Thirimanna 29, N. Mazahir 76, S. Zoysa 50 n.o.).

No decision

Three splendid half centuries from Dimuth Karunaratne (74), Andy Berenger (51) and Hans Fernando (60) helped SSC force a no decision to their SLC under 23 division one two day cricket tournament match against the Tamil Union which concluded at the P. Saravanamuttu Oval yesterday.

Tamil Union: 368 for 8 decl.

SSC: 244 for 3 (D. Karunaratne 74, A. Berenger 51, H. Fernando 60 n.o, S. Karunanayake 35 n.o, S. Serasinghe 2 for 59).

Malinga takes 7 wickets for 77

Malinga Pushpakumara returned outstanding figures of seven wickets for 77 to steer Chilaw Marians SC to a convincing first innings victory over Sri Lanka Air Force SC in their SLC under 23 division one two day cricket tournament match concluded at Rifle Green yesterday.

Chilaw Marians SC: 279 and 105 for 1 (A. Athulathmudali 62 n.o, G. Manishan 27 n.o.).

Air Force SC: 182 (N. Pavithra 57, S. Kandanarachchi 44, Y. de Silva 34, N. Elvis 20, M. Pushpakumara 7 for 77, M. Liyanapathirana 2 for 31).

Seeduwa-Raddoluwa CC triumph

Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC had to be content with a first innings victory over Kandy YCC in their SLC under 23 division one two day cricket tournament match concluded at the BRC ground in Havelock Park yesterday.

Kandy YCC: 109 and 189 for 9 (A. Jayasinghe 38, S. Hettiarachchi 27, N. Basnayake 23 n.o, S. Sampath 3 for 30, S. Perera 2 for 16, U. Karunaratne 2 for 18).

Seeduwa RCC: 217 for 8 decl (U. Karunaratne 56, S. Perera 43 n.o, K. Ekanayake 4 for 86, A. Reyal 2 for 59).
