Police to set up:

Public Security Information Centres

Sri Lanka Police Department has taken steps to set up six Public Security Information Centres in the Central Province. These Centres will be located at Kandy, Gampola, Dambulla, Matale, Nuwara Eliya and Hatton, Deputy Inspector General of Police Gamini Navaratne said.

The objective behind this move is to protect the general public from racketeers who cheat people in various forms, DIG said.

We have identified nearly 800 tricksters who have been involved in nearly 360 fraudulent activities during the past 1 1/2 years. We hope to deploy the services of 800 policemen towards carrying forward this program, initiated by the Inspector General of Police, DIG Navaratne said.
