Minister Dinesh Gunawardene told Parliament yesterday that immediate
measures will be taken to inform the Education Ministry to take
necessary action regarding the printing mistakes mentioned in the term
test question papers given to the students by the Provincial Councils.
The Minister was responding to a question raised by the JVP MP Anura
Kumara Dissanayake who pointed out that various printing mistakes have
appeared in term test question papers of various subjects issued to the
students by the North Central, Central and Southern Provincial Councils.
MP Dissanayake said there are more than 10 mistakes in the grade
eight Buddhism question paper issued by the North Central Provincial
Council. The Grade Nine English question paper printed by the Southern
Provincial Council has also printed its answers with the question paper.
In addition, various printing mistakes have appeared in the term test
question papers issued by the Central Provincial Council as well.
UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella said the Central Provincial Council has
collected nearly Rs. 35 million from students studying in Central
Province schools to print term test question papers.
Minister Gunawardene said as this matter was not brought to the
attention of the Government earlier, immediate steps will be taken to
inform about this to the Education Ministry for necessary action.
