Decision on deserters soon

Justice and Law Reforms Minister Milinda Moragoda told Parliament yesterday that the Government will take a decision on deserters who are under arrest within the next ten days. "There are nearly 6000 deserters in custody at the moment," he said.

They had served the country when they were on duty.

Therefore, we will declare the decision on them within the next ten days," the Minister said.

The Minister was responding to a question raised by UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekara.
