Low cost houses from Canadian company
A Canadian Company has expressed interest in building 30,000 low cost
houses in Sri Lanka.
Discussions in this regard were held by representatives of Termotech
Structures Ltd which is a joint venture of Chelina Capital Corporation a
Sri Lankan group, and Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to Canada Daya
Perera said recently. The proposal is for building pre-fabricated
450sq-foot two bedroom housing units. The company is already engaged in
building similar houses in Vietnam.
The Structural Insulated Panels will be manufactured in situ using
Sri Lankan labour provided by Chelina Capital Corporation. They have
also offered to install water purification plants and solar panels free.
The company also anticipates building groups of 20 houses within three
days.
Associated in the discussions were Patrick Nilkamal Fernando agent
for Chelina Capital, Gus Ayoub, Scott Gauthier Co-owner, Brent Danielle,
Financial Officer Termotech, Steve Murphy and Ralston Seneviratne.
Deputy High Commissioner C.H.A.M. Wijeratne and Counsellor Anjul Jhan
was also present.
