Indian, Pakistani PMs agree on more dialogues
EGYPT: Indian and Pakistani prime ministers on Thursday agreed
to continue bilateral dialogues during a brief meeting on the fringes of
the 15th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in the Egyptian Red
Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
The meeting between Manmohan Singh of India and Yousuf Raza Gilani of
Pakistan was widely expected to raise hopes of relaunching the stalled
peace talks between the two South Asian arch-foes.
It was still unclear when the peace talks would resume, but a joint
statement released after the meeting said the two countries’ foreign
secretaries, India’s Shiv Shankar Menon and Pakistan’s Salman Bashir,
would “meet as often as necessary” in the future. Xinhua |
