GDS & LSA swimming champions

The Gampaha District Swimming and Life Saving Association with 244 points won the championship title at the Gampaha Regent International College organised Gampaha District Swimming meet held at the college swimming pool recently.

The Gampaha Regent International College team were second with 216 points.

Miniruwani Samarakoon, medal winner in swimming at the South Asian Games was the chief guest.

Regent International College Director, Anura Gunasekara and Principal Nishanka Marapana were also present.

This meet was sponsored by Central Finance, Metropolitan Agencies, Makeen Bookshop, Sri Lanka Insurance, Nations Trust Bank and Ceylon Cold Stores (Elephant House).

Dilshani Gunasekara of Newstead Girls College, Negombo was adjudged the best swimmer.

Results:

Schools - Boys: 1. Negombo Maris Stella College, 2. Gampaha Regent International College. Girls: 1. Kiribathgoda Vihara Maha Devi Balika Vidyalaya, 2. Gampaha Regent International College.

Champion swimmers:

Under 10 - Boys: Shalin Prabasha (Gampaha District Swimming and Life Saving Association). Girls: J. K. Pramodha Thilakaratne (Vihara Maha Devi Balika Vidyalaya).

Under 12 - boys: Dineth Jayakody (Negombo Maris Stella College). Girls: H. F. Chamodi Dilrukshi de Fonseka (Negombo Dolphin Swimming Club).

Under 14 - Boys: Thisara Pamuditha (Kelaniya President's College). Girls: Prami Ranawaka (Biyagama Swimming Diving and Life Saving Association).

Under 16 - Boys: Reomal Vanderwall (Wattala OKI - swimming school). Girls: Thashiya Dias (Negombo Gateway International College).

Under 19 - Boys: Sulakkana Dissanayake (Gampaha Bandaranayake College). Girls: Dilshani Gunasekara (Negombo Newstead Girls College).

Over 19 - Boys: Janith M. Abraham (Raddolugama Hans Maribo Swimming Pool). Girls: Charitha Deshani (Gampaha District Swimming and Life Saving Association).

Twenty-five schools and eleven sports clubs in the Gampaha district participated at the meet.
