Kandy SC has the edge over CH and FC

Defending champions Kandy Sports Club which is the only unbeaten team in the Caltex ‘A’ Division League Rugby Tournament will go all out to register their ninth successive win for the season when they confront CH and FC in their match at Maitland Crescent today.

The lads from Kandy won the first round game by 30 points to 3 at Nittawela and will be out to give a repeat performance today. CH and FC has a fine set of forwards spearheaded by Sri Lanka player Dilanka Wijesekara.

The CH ‘eight’ especially Jayantha Ranaweera, Sathya Ranatunge, Dinesh Sanjeewa, Sharo Fernando and skipper Achala Perera have given of their best this season and are capable of matching up to Kandy’s power-packed forwards Kishore Jehan, Swarnatilleke, Senaka Bandara, Dilip Selvam, Sajith Saranga and Sean Wijesinghe. The lads from Kandy with a star studded three quarter line are likely to make the maximum use of the ‘good ball’ which comes their way.

In Saliya Kumara and Fazil Marija they have a superb halves combination while Gayan Weeraratne, Pradeep Liyanage, Sameera Silva and Sanjeewa Jayasinghe are hard runners who are capable of breaching the CH defence with full back Radhika Hettiarachchi joining the line to form the overlap.

CH and FC have been let down by their three quarters and they will hope that they will come up with a much better display today which would help the club to give the lads from Kandy a close run.
