Claymore, arms haul in Killinochchi, Mullaitivu

Security Forces unearthed a large stock of claymore mines, arms and ammunition in Killinochchi and Mullaitivu on Thursday.

Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said troops of the 56 Division conducting search operations unearthed the cache of arms buried by LTTE cadres from Vellaimullivaikkal.

Troops unearthed 332 claymore mines, 15kg C4 explosives, five 12.7mm ammunition, 100 improvised mortar devices, 51 improvised hand grenades, 46,000 cartridge caps, 85 MPMG rounds, 225 electric detonators, five C-90 weapons, five Thermobaric weapons and a 37mm round.

Meanwhile, the Task Force recovered a haul of arms in Puthukudiyiruppu on Thursday. Troops recovered 400 detonators, 150 Improvised Explosive Devices, 15,000 T56 ammunition, six claymore mines, 92 RPG bombs, a suicide jacket, nine RCL bombs, 25 RPG chargers and135 of 60mm fuses.
