Abuse case: Man gets seven years RI

Colombo High Court Judge Sarojini Kusala Weerawardene sentenced a 48-year-old man to seven years RI who pleaded guilty of abusing an underage boy.

The Court sentenced Ahamed Sadul Thajudeen alias Adei Mama of Slave Island for abusing a 11- year-old-boy in January 2007.

According to the statement made to Police, the man had abused the boy in a public latrine in Slave Island.

The Court imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 and another three months RI in default. The Court also ordered the man to pay Rs.100,000 as compensation to the victim and another six months RI in default.

State Counsel Rashmi Aslam appeared for the prosecution.
