Ranaviru Housing Program begins
The National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) has implemented an
islandwide program to provide housing facilities to Ranaviru families
living in various parts of the country.

Ocean View Development Company Ltd. affiliated to the Ministry of
Housing and Common Amenities made a financial contribution at the
Ministry for the proposed Phase - I of the Ranaviru Housing Program.
Managing Director of the Ocean View Development Company Ithkhan
Mohamed made a contribution of Rs. 1.5 million and this donation was
accepted by Chairman of the NHDA A.I. Wickrama with the participation of
General Manager of NHDA, L.S. Palansuriya.
Selection of suitable Ranaviru families for this program will be done
by the District Housing Committee of each district headed by the
District Secretary. Houses will be built in proportion to the donations
received for this program and of Rs. 100,000 will be granted for each
house.
In addition, financial assistance from outsiders and technical
support too will be given to prospective families.
The low cost building technology and the traditional methods of
construction will be used for constructing these houses.
The objective of this Ranaviru Housing Program is to provide
permanent houses for Ranaviru families who sacrificed their lives to end
the war.
The NHDA will implement the Phase - I of this housing program in
Colombo, Kalutara, Hambantota, Rathnapura, Matale, Polonnaruwa,
Monaragala, Ampara, Gampaha, Galle, Kegalle, Kandy, Anuradhapura,
Kurunegala and Badulla district.
Houses under Phase - I of this program will be completed within four
months.
The rest of the phases of this program will be implemented utilising
future donations. |
