Please buy a "Friendship wrist band"

The Defence, Public Security, Law and Order Ministry has launched a sale of "friendship wrist bands" to solicit public contributions towards a fund to build houses for needy war heroes. Ministry's Additional Secretary Willie Gamage in a press release said: "We have now got rid of the dark shadow of terrorism.

The gallant war heroes have made our dreams come true and it now up to us to reciprocate their noble deed by catering to their future welfare."

Gamage said the housing fund was launched with this objective in view. People can contribute towards this fund by purchasing a wrist band at Rs. 100 each.

Many public and private institutions have joined hands to make the sale of wrist bands a success.

Wrist bands are now available at all branches of the Bank of Ceylon, Peoples Bank, NSB, Commercial Bank, Lankaputra Bank and Seylan Bank.

Any further information in this regard could be obtained from Chandana Pelpita on Telephone 011-2426100 or mobile 0773-137700.
