Now, a 24-hour University

The Vocational and Technical Training University in Ratmalana is open 24 hours, seven days a week.

"This university is not like other universities in the country. We give priority for practical and student based education," Vocational and Technical Training Minister Piyasena Gamage said.

Addressing the graduation ceremony of the Orugodawatte Automobile Engineering Training Institute held recently at the Ratmalana Vocational Technology University auditorium, Minister Gamage said there is a remarkable progress in vocational and technical training sector in Sri Lanka.

"Now we have nearly 250 vocational training centres in both rural and urban areas. We have four National Vocational Training Institutes, 14 District Vocational Training centers, six Special Vocational Training Centres and 200 Rural Vocational Training Centers. Annually more than 80,000 students follow courses through these centers.
