Most Sri Lankans have never visited the eastern and western provinces
during the last three decades. They are now willing to visit those
regions. Facilities should be provided for the people to visit their own
country and tourism should be improved for the benefit of local and
foreign visitors. Tourism will be developed with the assistance of other
authorities said Minister, Nandana Gunathilake.
The Tourism Minister Nandana Gunathilake assumed duties at his office
yesterday.
Minister Gunathilake addressing the media said "As a Tourism Minister
there are so many challenges that I have to win. I am not going to win
those challenges lonely. Always I need others help. After 32 years now
foreigners come to our country without any fear.
Now the time has come to develop the Tourism industry.
Foreigners come to Sri Lanka for various purposes. They come to the
country for adventure, education and many other purposes.
Most of the foreigners come to the country to study our culture,
tradition, Ayurvedic medical field, language and so on. Now there is a
big trend for Agro tourism."
