St. Anthony's College, Kandy with two successive wins in the last two
games will go with confidence when they take on Isipathana College in
the final game of the Schools League Under 20 'A' Division Rugby
Tournament match to be played at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium in Kandy
this Saturday with the kick off at 4.30 p.m.
This match was earlier scheduled to be played on May 29 and was
postponed.
The Antonians are no doubt brimming with confidence especially after
their last week's win over St. Peter's College at Bambalapitiya. A win
for the Antonians should push them to the sixth position in par with
Dharmaraja College which help them to remain in the 'A' Division for
another year, if there is any relegation system for next year.
The Antonians started off badly losing five matches in a row and at
one stage they looked the 'whip boys' but during the last two weeks,
fortunes changed for them when they secured their first win over
Mahanama College and followed with a stunning win St. Peter's College to
win the 'Rectors Trophy' in its inaugural year.
At one stage eyebrows were raised when the Antonians changed their
coach and the physical trainer mid way during the season but this due
made the team click.
Coming back into the team to coach the ruggerites was Priyantha
Gunaratne which the school called 'The strategist' and physical training
was taken over by young national weight lifter 22 year old Ransilu
Jayatillake.
