Doisneau brings '35 originals prints'
A photographic exhibition 35 tirages originaux ("35 original prints")
by French photographer Robert Doisneau will be held at Alliance
Française de Colombo from July 2 to 23.
Doisneau was born in the suburb of Paris. He had been attached to his
origin throughout his life.

He studied engraving but his original work had been involved with
photography. He worked for the Renault Car Company for several years
before being fired for being constantly late.
Several years later he joined the Rapho Agency. He is regarded as one
of the members of "l'École de Paris", group of humanist photographers.
Doisneau's work is mainly dealing with human subjects in Paris and
suburb. His friends and models were, for example, the poet Jacques
Prévert and the cellist Maurice Baquet. Philippe Salaün who has been
Doinseau's printer for many years had stated recently, "As you already
know, after my modest exhibition in June, I shall leave the walls of the
Alliance Française de Colombo in July to one of the great masters of the
20th century photography: Robert Doisneau."
Robert Doisneau's exhibition at Alliance Française de Colombo is
unique and outstanding because it is really the first time that this
kind of exhibition takes place in Colombo and because it shows original
The opening which will be held on July 2 will welcome the printer and
the French Ambassador as guests of honour.
