Miss J.A. Champika Chulangani (42) of No. 65/10, Raja Maha Viharaya Road, Mirihana, Kotte is suffering from an acute congenital heart disease. Cardiologist Dr. (Mrs.) Sepalika Mendis has recommended a PFO closure operation to save her life.

The consumables and the treatment is estimated to cost Rs. 450,000. Chulangani says she is unable to foot this bill due to her family’s present financial plight.

She requests philanthropists and the public to assist her cause by sending whatever financial contributions possible to expedite the treatment. All contributions should be remitted to account number 279-2-002-8-0001518 at the People’s Bank, Pitakotte branch.


He needs your help

M.T. Morawaka (46) of Dumbuluwa, Lewangama, Ruwanwella is a father of three. He was employed as a Grama Seva Niladhari. He suddenly lost hearing in both ears and was admitted to National Hospital, Colombo.

According to Dr. J.M. Wickramarachchi, Co-ordinator-Cochlear Implant Program, Morawaka needs urgent surgery. The cost of the Cochlear Implant System is around Rs. 1,525,000.00.

Since Morawaka and his family solely depend on his salary and as he doesn't have any other income, he is unable to find this huge sum for his surgery.

Morawaka, therefore, appeals to the public to help him financially to overcome his problem by depositing whatever possible to his A/c No. 081200134943156 at the Ruwanwella People's Bank. His phone number is 077-6313005.


Poya day lecture

The Conference of Sri Lankan Malays (Coslam) will conduct its monthly islamic lecture series 'in the shade of the holy our'an' at the YMMA Conference Main Auditorium, No. 63 Sri Vajiragnana Road, Dematagoda, Colombo 9 on Monday July 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.


Religious lectures

A Religious lecture will also conducted by Moulavi A.B.M. Mubarak (Falahi) From June 30 after Isha prayers at the Nawala Jummah Mosque.


Badur Mowlood

The recital of Badur Mawlood will be conducted by Al Haj Moulavi M.T. Hillurudeen (Falahi) and Al Haj Moulavi A.B.M. Mubarak (Falahi) from July 2 after Magrib prayers and will continue until Isha prayers at the Nawala Jummah Mosque.


Walawe Urumaya

The Educational and Trade Exhibition titled Walawe Urumaya aimed at providing employment opportunities to the youth and students in Walawe and South will be held June 30 (today) at the Mahaweli Grounds, Angunakolapalasa.

This exhibition will continue till July 4.


Blood donation

The Junior Chamber International Sri Lanka (JCISL), has organized a Blood Donation Project at Vajirarama Temple, Colombo 04, on Saturday July 4 from 9 a.m to 3 p.m.


Dharmaraja 122 today

Dharmaraja College, Kandy completes 122 years today.

A blood donation campaign will be held today at 9.00 a.m. at the Dharmaraja OBU Headquarters, Kandy organised by the Dharmaraja Old Scouts Association and at 10.00 a,m the "Founders Day" lecture will be delivered by Wijaya Wickremaratne, PC at the College Auditorium.

Dharmaraja College OBU (Colombo Branch) too have organised a Bodhi Pooja today at 6.00 p.m. at the Sunethraramaya, Etul Kotte, said the Dharmaraja OBU Secretary Janaka Hettiarachchi.


Prize giving

The prize giving ceremony to the winners of the Handicraft and Handloom Exhibition held in 2008 conducted by the Department of Industry of the Western Province will be held on June 30 at 10.00 a.m. at the Janakala Complex, Pelawatte, Battaramulla.

The chief guest will be Western Province Governor Alavi Mowlana. Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranathunga and Provincial Minister Udaya Gammanpila and several ministers will be present.


Fined

Two persons who were convicted for misbehaving in public places were fined Rs. 1,500 each totalling Rs. 3,000. The accused were K. G. Premathilaka and W. Ariyasena in Dambulla area.

 


Minister thanks China

Power and Energy Minister John Seneviratne on behalf of the Government yesterday thanked China for extending its unwavering support to Sri Lanka at international forums.

He said China as a longstanding friend of Sri Lanka has always stood in support of Sri Lanka at international level. "China also came forward to support Sri Lanka militarily at a time when other countries in the world refused to do so," he said.

We pay gratitude to the Government of China for helping to eradicate terrorism which plagued the development of the country for over three decades.
