Antonians win high scoring game

Five hundred and eighty nine runs (589) were scored in a day for the loss of 19 wickets as St. Anthony's College, Kandy pulled off a thrilling one wicket win over their traditional rivals Trinity College in their schools under 17 division one cricket tournament match played at Katugastota.

The Antonian chasing a target of 295 runs to win in 50 overs, needed 18 runs in the final over with the last part in Allrounder Thushan Hittige smashed 18 runs in the final over off M. Sameera to give the Antonian win in the final ball of the match.

Trinity 294 all out in 50 overs (Niroshan Dikwelle 50, Jamith Premasinghe 67, S.K. Jayasuriya 14, M. Sameera 13, A. Jayasundera 17, I. Fernando 18, Tharaka Jayasinghe 2 for 37, T. Hittige 2 for 42, P. Premaratne 2 for 41).

St. Anthonys 295 for 9 in 50 overs (A. Premaratne 18, P. Liyanage 30, Manoj Sarathchandra 80, K.B. Ranaraja 45, Tharaka Jayasinghe 39, K.L. Bandara 12, T. Hittige 23 not out, T.S. Bandara 3 for 53, J. Premasinghe 2 for 52, Amila Jayasundara 2 for 51).
