Fun trip turns to tragedy

A bus carrying pre-school children from Hasalaka to the Dehiwala Zoo, went off the road and fell into a precipice at Ududumbara area injuring 24 including several children. The conductor was injured seriously. The injured were admitted to the Peradeniya and Ududumbara Hospitals.

The bus had 50 passengers including 24 children and their mothers.

It is alleged that the bus developed problems when negotiating bends at 18 Bends area and met with the accident.

Ududumbara police are investigating.

Major Kokila Hapuarachchi

Missing

Hapuarachchige Kumaradasa of 515/26, High Level Road, Panagoda, Homagama seeks the support of the public to find the whereabouts of his son, an Army Major, Kokila Manoj Hapuarachchi (34) who was found missing from a location at Kilali since April 22, 2000.

This 6 foot tall Army soldier was seen last in Army Major uniform. Any information regarding this missing soldier may be conveyed to his home people via 011-2688618.

 

 



W. A. Gunapala

The Police Media Spokesman Senior SP Ranjith Gunasekera has released the above picture of W. A. Gunapala (46), a relation of J. L. Gunadasa of Hangamuwa, Ratnapura, who is missing since June 5, 2009.

He had been taking treatment at the Colombo National Hospital Ward no nine for several months.

He is 5’ 3” in height. He was last wearing a blue sarong and a white long sleeve shirt.

Anyone with information about him should contact Police Headquarters on 2421111 or the nearest police station.
