Integrate indigenous technology into development, says President

President Mahinda Rajapaska yesterday said the Government will not
bow down to any conditions to obtain credit facilities and indigenous
technology and know- how should be integrated into the country’s
development.
Addressing the tea factory owners and gem merchants in Pelmadulla,
the President said all activities detrimental to the country and economy
should be ended, if we are to achieve a righteous society in the
country.
President Rajapaksa said he will win the mission to create a
righteous society in the same way he achieved victory in the fight
against terrorism.
The business community spoke about their problems and challenges to
the President.
He said the Government is bound to provide all assistance to them to
promote their businesses .
He said the tea factory owners should focus on the production of high
quality tea to compete with other brands in the international market.
The President also discussed how the market share for Sri Lankan tea
could be enhanced.
The business community has now received an opportunity to do business
in any part of the island freely and the Government has provided all
assistance to them.
The President also inspected the Galpadithenna Tea factory where a
fully automatic tea processing system has been set up. This factory
belongs to the KDU group of factories which produces over eight percent
of the total low country tea production. |
