New anti-polio vaccine in Cuba
Cuba: Cuba is implementing as requested by the World Health
Organization (WHO) clinical testing of the intramuscular application of
an anti-polio vaccine.
This test, taking place in the province of Camaguey, in addition to
exploring a more effective vaccine, aims to reduces prices to fight a
disease affecting thousands of people in poor countries.
Gustavo Kouri, director of the Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine
Institute (IPK), told Granma newspaper that the choice of his center to
engage in that investigation is a worldwide recognition.
